Are you experiencing just one of those days? Bad skin, bad day, lazy day, or a long day in general? Well, remember to stay hopeful because there are brighter days ahead! Here are some ways you can not only help your skin, but also your health and improve your mood. Exercise has been known to help improve your mood because it releases endorphins, which helps you to have positive feelings. What are you waiting for, go to the gym, take a fun class with your friends! But first, read on to find out how some skincare tips to try before, during, and after a good workout!

Skincare Tips

What to do pre-workout?

First, get yourself out of the slum by either getting out of bed, out of the house. But before leaving the house, make sure to go to the gym with a clean face. Be sure to remove any skincare residues that you had from last night skincare routine or any makeup from the day. It’s very important to keep the skin clean while working out because when you sweat, your pores open which means make up residues and bacteria can clog your pores. We recommend the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil, which removes even the most stubborn, waterproof makeup.

Also, be sure to keep your hair out of the face by tying it up so that hair products that you may have used does not mix along with your sweat and sneak up into your pores. Definitely do not want hair products on your face.

Now that your face is clean and hair is out of the way, it’s time to start the workout.

What to do during workout?

During your workout, avoid touching your face. That’s right! With all the sweat on your face may be tempting to wipe it off. I know, but don’t do it because your hands are covered with bacteria from touching that start button on the machine that someone has used before you.

Instead of using your hands, use a towel and pat off the sweat. Don’t rub because your skin is delicate and it can cause fine lines and wrinkles.

What to do post-workout?

Now that your done with your workout, it’s time to get out of your gym clothes! Even if you are busy, it should be one of the first thing you do because wearing your workout clothes for an extended period of time can trap in the moisture (your sweat) and cause a party of germs and bacteria to form, leading to potential breakouts like bacne. If you have time,  take a quick shower to wash off all the sweat and bacteria.

After showering, replenish the skin’s moisture with a light moisturizer like Supple Preparation All Over Lotion. This is a clean moisturizer, meaning, it has only the necessary ingredients to keep your skin hydrated without giving you the greasy or over-powering perfume smell when applied.

As for the face, keep it simple with a gentle cleanser, just enough to wash off the sweat and residue, don’t use something too strong since you already cleansed before your workout. Perfect for post workout, the Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser is a great option since it contains hyaluronic acid, ceramide 3, and olive oil to bring back moisture to your dehydrated skin that may be caused from intense perspiration.

After cleansing, bring balance back to the skin with a pH balancing toner like the Supple Preparation Facial Toner. If you had an intense workout, spend a little more time on your skin today and do a sheet mask with toner. All you need is a cotton pad to soak it with the toner and then place it on the main areas of the face, forehead, cheek and chin.

If your skin is still feeling a bit hot from the workout, treat the irritation and possible inflammation with the Midnight Blue Calming Cream. This is a miracle cream that you can apply overnight and see your skin calmer and brighter the next morning.

Finally, as much as it is important to keep the skin hydrated, but also your body. Drink water and it will not only keep you hydrated but will flush out all the toxins in your body. Carry around a reusable bottle and refill it from time to time. Not only are you being eco-friendly by doing this, but also helping your body stay hydrated.

Hope these skincare tips have helped you out in one way or another. Now, lets go out and make this day better!
